Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships aren’t just for new recruits. There are a variety of apprenticeships available that can support you to progress in your career, develop new skills and knowledge.

What is an Apprenticeship?

  • An apprenticeship combines studying known as ‘off the job’ learning and practical experience by learning on the job.  The apprenticeship standard will have set skills, knowledge, and behaviours that you will learn.
  • Although you will be given time, there is an expectation that you will need to study in your own time.
  • At the end of the apprenticeship, you will undertake an end point assessment, that will assess how you have developed the skills, knowledge and behaviours with either a fail, pass, merit or distinction.
  • Some apprenticeships may also include a qualification. If so, there will be additional work required for you to complete to meet this requirement as well as the apprenticeship requirements.

What is required during the apprenticeship?

  • If you undertake a clinical degree apprenticeship, you will be expected to undertake placements across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.
  • If you are unable to provide evidence of level 2 maths and English qualifications, you will be required to undertake level 2 functional skills in maths and/or English alongside the apprenticeship. Some apprenticeships require these qualifications to start on programme. If you to undertake these before starting you can do so by undertaking Functional Skills.

What will I be paid?

  • You will continue to be paid your salary whilst undertaking an apprenticeship.

What types of apprenticeships are there?

  • There are a range of apprenticeships available and differ from level 2 – 7.
