You can complete a degree in operating department practice at university. Once you have completed the degree, you will need to register with the Health and Care Professions Council. Alternatively, you may be able to undertake your training via an apprenticeship.

You might be able to do an operating department practitioner degree apprenticeship. This is usually only open to staff who are working as Theatre Support Worker, who can study for a degree to qualify as an ODP whilst on the job.

A starting salary is £29,970 with opportunity to progress up to £52,809 with experience and ability to specialise.
