Therapy Assistant

What is a career as a therapy assistant in health and social care?

A therapy assistant supports allied health professionals to deliver treatment and rehabilitation to patients ranging from patients regaining movement, communication or daily living skills.

Key duties:

  • Assisting patients with exercises and therapy activities.
  • Setting up equipment for therapy sessions.
  • Monitoring and recording patient progress.
  • Encouraging and motivating patients during rehabilitation.
  • Supporting patients with mobility and daily tasks.

Entry routes and pay

There are no set entry requirements but employers may expect a good standards of English and Maths and some may ask for qualifications such as GCSEs, NVQs or equivalent.

A starting salary of £23,615 with opportunity to progress up to £25,674 with experience and additional training.
