Step into the NHS
Step into the NHS provides careers information, teaching resources and competitions to help students discover careers in the NHS. There are resources available for both Primary and Secondary schools.
NHS Health Careers
NHS Health Careers is a website aimed to educate and inform on the variety of roles found in the NHS, including how to get in and get on. There are areas to explore careers, compare roles, careers information and a careers quiz.
Think Care Careers – Skills for Care
Think Care Careers and Skills for Care has information on careers in social care. There are resources for teachers and careers advisors to help students discover jobs in adult social care.
Resuscitation Council UK – Lifesaver
A series of free interactive films to learn about essential skills, such as CPR, choking and putting someone in the recovery position.
Dr You – NHS Talent Academy
Dr You is a website developed by Health Education England to help guide and provide further information on applying to medical school. It includes case studies of current doctors and medical students, as well as guides and other resources.
Pharmacy Careers
A website to learn more about careers in Pharmacy, including an interactive careers map.
Virtual Reality AHP Films
NHS England Allied Health Professionals 360 virtual reality films. These films allow you to experience and explore a day in the life of a podiatrist, orthoptist, prosthetist, orthotist and therapeutic radiographer. For the full experience it is recommended that you use a virtual reality headset, however the films can be viewed without.
The WOW Show
Here you can explore films about Allied Health Professional (AHP) Careers.
Hear from young people and see what working in these roles is really like.
There are also other resources for teachers.
Healthcare Careers in Focus
The East of England Health & Care Academies are teaming up for the 2024/25 academic year to provide a series of virtual sessions aimed at College and Sixth Form students who are studying healthcare related courses.
These virtual Healthcare Careers in Focus programme focus on:
- Exploring healthcare roles
- Provide masterclasses in skills required for a career in the sector
- Provide information about routes and pathways into both NHS and Social Care careers
- Explore East of England university provision relating to healthcare careers
- Provide information about apprenticeship development opportunities in the region.
Recordings of these sessions are uploaded and available on the Healthcare Careers in Focus YouTube channel.
