Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is continuous professional and personal development to help you develop in your career as well as keeping your skills and knowledge up to date to ensure safe and legal practice.

It could involve:

  • E-learning
  • Volunteering
  • On the job learning
  • Courses
  • Workshops

If you work in a role that requires registration with a regulatory body, for example a nurse, then you will need to keep your skills and knowledge up to date through CPD. You can find out what these requirements are through your regulatory body responsible for your profession, they will also be able to provide you with more advice, support, and opportunities to support you with your CPD.
