Apprenticeships

Earn, learn and make a difference by starting your career in health and care with an apprenticeship.

  • What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a paid job where you’ll learn and gain valuable experience alongside experienced staff.

  • What is involved in an apprenticeship?

As part of an apprenticeship you will learn on the job and allocated ‘off the job’ learning time. You will be working towards the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard.

  • What will I achieve?

You will achieve an apprenticeship qualification. Some apprenticeships also include a qualification included and will have additional requirements to meet.

  • What are the entry criteria?

These will be outlined by the organisation and will vary depending on the apprenticeship. Some apprenticeships may require you to have Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE 4-9 / A-C) and be able to provide these certificates. (If you do not hold these, some apprenticeships allow you to undertake these qualifications alongside the programme)

  • How will I be assessed?

This will vary depending on the apprenticeship. At the final stage of the apprenticeship, you will undertake an end point assessment which is designed to demonstrate what you’ve learnt and meet the knowledge, skills and behaviours. The end point assessment is assessed by an independent provider. Upon completion you will achieve either a pass, merit or distinction.

  • What will I be paid?

Apprenticeship pay may differ between the organisations depending on the apprenticeship standard and level.
